Presenter Of The Month
Fundraiser Doyenne, Lisa MacKenzie
Tune in on a Sunday afternoon and this is the lovely lady you’ll be listening to.
Lisa Mackenzie is our resident charity specialist and knows everything there is to know about fundraising in the North Devon area.
So here’s a little background on our Lisa and why we think she’s so special.
Back in 2014 Lisa organised a Ball for Breast Caner Research. Two of her friends had been diagnosed with breast cancer and she wanted to do what she could to help beat the disease. She contacted Cancer Research UK to get all the correct information and ended up being approached by the local fundraising manager to help raise money for Relay For Life in the South West.
The rest as they say, is history and in 2015 Relay For Life North Devon was born. Teams of men, women and children of all ages and abilities, take it in turns to walk around Barnstaple Rugby pitch for 24 hours.
They have entertainment, a grand raffle and goods of refreshments, activities and much, much more.
Each team fund-raises throughout the year and Lisa’s committee work tirelessly throughout the year to put on events, and spread the Relay world. To date Lisa and her team have raised £115,000.
This year, Relay is on the 28th July and she’d LOVE you to join them, either as a team or just come down on the day and have fun listening to some fantastic musicians.
Lisa’s passion for this work is also evident in her Sunday show - Lisa Talks Local. As she says, "It's all about bringing our fabulous community together and working as one."
