An introduction to Calligraphy for beginners and those for whom their last class is a distant memory
Tutor: Jo Turner
Calligraphy – the art of beautiful writing –is an artistic means of self expression open to all of us and which can be started at any time without lengthy preparation or high cost. This workshop will provide an opportunity to come and try your hand at making some elegant letters with professional help – the basic structure of letters and use of a broad edge nib to create the distinctive characteristics of calligraphic scripts will be worked on.
Calligrapher, lettering artist and illustrator Jo Turner lives and works in Devon, England.
With a passion for making marks on paper since childhood Jo has worked with lettering for over 40 years. She studied under a number of master calligraphers and developed her skills gradually, whilst raising a family, attending short courses mostly at West Dean College, Chichester and on becoming accredited as an Adult Education tutor by West Sussex County Council succeeded her mentor, the late John Shyvers, tutoring his classes.
