Dog of the Week - Bruno

Bruno is a five-year-old German Shepherd who is affectionate and loving. Once settled he adores a fuss and is happy to snuggle up on the sofa.

He absolutely loves his walks and recently went off-site with one of his doggie friends to explore the woods and swim in the stream. He can be worried by some dogs initially, but if they are social and playful he is happy to make friends. Most of the time Bruno plods along nicely on lead, however he can be very strong at times. He is working towards his recall skills and has great name response. He likes to learn new things and he already knows a sit and a down. His favourite reward when being trained is chicken. Bruno enjoys playing with a squeaky toy and will often play fetch.

Bruno is looking for an active home where he could live with family members aged eleven and over. Experience of German Shepherds would be ideal as he is a strong boy. He is house-trained and would like a nice garden and could possibly share his home with a suitable dog as long as there are two people to walk the two dogs together, otherwise he would be happy as the only dog in the home with play mates when out and about. Bruno loves human company, therefore time left alone is best built up gradually.

If you think you can give Bruno the loving, forever home he deserves, then please give our Canine Carers a call at our Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre on 01271 812709, we are open every day between 12noon and 4pm except Wednesday when we are open from 4.30pm until 7.30pm.

Other Dogs of the Week

Benji

Benji is a handsome four-year-old Terrier who is looking for a home from Dogs Trust Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre.

Once Benji knows you he forms a close loving bond. It doesn’t take him long to get to know someone and when he does he absolutely adores fuss and cuddles, and he snuggles up on your lap. He is an extremely affectionate boy. He enjoys playing with toys, especially a ball. He also likes ‘find it’ games and treat puzzles. He knows a sit, down and paw and hangs out in our back office where he enjoys having a snooze. He enjoys his walks but doesn’t need much exercise as he has hip dysplasia, which is managed by medication and reduced exercise. He is happy, he’s doing very well and it is assessed every month by the vet. Benji needs his walks to be quiet, and peaceful, and away from the hustle and bustle.

Benji is looking for patient, understanding adopters in an adult only home. He needs a home where he can feel safe and secure. He would like a quiet home, and to be the only pet in the home so he can have all the attention that he loves to himself. He would like a secure garden and potential adopters must be prepared to visit Benji a few times at the centre to build that loving bond with him. He is happy to travel in a car to get to those peaceful walks.

If you think you can give Benji the loving, forever home he deserves, then please give our Canine Carers a call at our Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre on 01271 812709, we are open every day between 12noon and 4pm except Wednesday when we are open from 4.30pm until 7.30pm.

Ginger

Ginger is five-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who is looking for a home from Dogs Trust Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre.

Ginger is fun and active, and also sweet and sensitive. She is initially shy of meeting new people, and tends to be more wary of men. A gentle approach to handling is needed until she knows and trusts you, then Ginger initiates fuss, and with people she knows she is affectionate and cuddly. She loves to play with toys, her favourites are the squeaky variety and she runs around really fast with such excitement! Ginger likes to interact with you through a game of fetch. When it’s warm outside she likes a paddling pool to jump in and out of. Ginger has made friends with a few dogs here at the centre, she likes a play, but prefers the quiet type.

Ginger is looking for a loving, active home, where adopters will be prepared to visit her a few times at the centre before adopting. She is particularly nervous of visitors to the home so will need a quiet home without too many people coming in and out. She would like quiet, tranquil walks away from the hustle and bustle of people, and a nice garden to play fetch in. Ginger could possibly live with a calm dog in the home or equally be as happy as the only dog in the home with canine walking buddies when out and about.

If you think you can give Ginger the loving, forever home she deserves, then please give our Canine Carers a call at our Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre on 01271 812709, we are open every day between 12noon and 4pm except Wednesday when we are open from 4.30pm until 7.30pm.
