Radio has always been a passion, working in Pirate & Hospital radio in my teenage years. Classic Radio was my first station, when a man asked me at a disco "you've got a great voice for radio would you like to join us on a Pirate Radio Station" two days later I was presenting 5 shows a week on Classic Radio, then a move to Barnstaple followed.
With many weeks of fund raising, and planning Tarka Radio became a reality and with the Chief Constable for Devon and Cornwall we presented the first show, how nice it is to see that Tarka Radio is still providing a great service to the hospital.
There have a few other stations stops on my journey in radio, including Plymouth Sound, Fox FM, 2Ten FM and in 1992, Lantern FM.
In 1993 I was again asked to move shows and take over Drive Time and Saturday Breakfast, I stayed there for nearly four years, with a gap I then rejoined Lantern and with a name change Heart FM, with the relocation of Heart studio’s to Exeter and the end of local radio in North Devon as we knew it, the time was right to start a new chapter in local radio in North Devon and The Voice was born, together with Paul Crockett, Ian Starling, Peter Fieldsend, Paul Hopper & Myself (Martin King)
The Journey continues, making new friends and entertaining as many people as possible but most of all keeping it a Local Radio Station.
