The Friends of Hoar Oak Cottage are delighted to be invited by Libraries Unlimited to provide a display about Hoar Oak Cottage – a once thriving shepherds home in NW Exmoor – as part of their May Community History Month.
Archaeologists date the original cott from medieval times, It is
now preserved as a heritage ruin. The cottage offers an intriguing focus for learning about the history and heritage of sheep farming in days gone by up on the remote Exmoor moorland hills.
The display is new for 2026; is grant funded by the British Association of Local History and is based around the themes of The Place, The People and The Life.
