Learn to make a traditional round basket with handle from willow with local basket maker Jane Welsh

Join established local basketmaker and teacher, Jane Welsh for a one day workshop at Barnstaple Library.
Make a useful round collecting basket using the traditional 'stake and strand' method of basketry.Learn to weave the base using the 'pairing' weave, 'waling' and 'French randing' in the sides, finishing with a rod boarded and a handle.
There will be a selection of different naturally coloured willows from which you can choose to make your own unique basket.
Suitable for beginners.
Spaces limited to 8 participants.
Refreshments provided, there will be a chance to break for lunch - bring your own or buy in town.
