Skagen is the northern-most part of the Jutland Peninsula, a spot in the summer noted for its unusual light. From the 1870's to the beginning of the 20th century this Fisherman's Village was home to an Artist colony. Influenced by French Modernism they painted 'en plein air' representing scenes from everyday life and becoming a nexus for free artistic expression.
